This year’s Harvest Hootenanny wasn’t L’Arche Comox Valley’s first rodeo. In fact, the fundraiser is in its 14th year. Held at Christ the King Parish, the sold-out event brought old and new friends together to visit, enjoy a meal, and listen to the sounds of Comox Valley’s very own Fiddlejam.
A Team Effort that Drives Big Success
“We want to thank everyone who helped make the event so much fun and successful,” says Lynda Brosko, L’Arche Comox Valley’s Community Leader & Executive Director. “Every person who attended, all of our volunteers, Christ the King Parish and all of the amaaazing home bakers and bakeries that created desserts for our auction – We are extremely grateful for your support.” The dessert auction raised $5,200 by itself and in total the event raised more than $10,000.
Lynda says the funds support community social programs including art, music and gatherings, not just for people with diverse abilities living at L’Arche, but for others residing in the Valley in home share, at home and on their own.”
“We encourage people with and without disabilities to take part in activities through L’Arche,” says Lynda. “Whether you come for coffee, participate in a class or volunteer in some way, our goal is to provide a space where there is room for everyone, where differences are celebrated and where you are welcome as you are.”
