Shining at the 2025 Special Olympics

Athletes from across British Columbia with developmental disabilities competed with pride in Prince George in July.

Paul smiles as he talks about his experience at the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games, held July 10 to 12 in Prince George, BC.

Paul, who calls L’Arche’s I Belong Centre Suites his home, was one of more than 840 athletes at the recent games. He has competed in golf at a regional and provincial level and he loves the sport.

When asked what he enjoyed most, Paul said, “I really liked playing, but I also enjoyed seeing other athletes compete.

“When it was time to award the medals, there were some competitors that were disappointed. But I told them we’re all champions.”

Paul thanks everyone who worked so hard to make the games a success – the staff, volunteers, coaches, all the family and friends and everyone else who helped to make the experience such a great one.
