February is a little sweeter this year with the first Comox Valley Hot Chocolate Festival kicking-off on February 1. The event, which runs until February 29, promotes the creation of signature hot chocolate drinks and treats by participating cafes, bakeries, chocolateries and restaurants in the Valley. A portion of each Festival drink or treat purchased goes to support L’Arche Comox Valley, the host of the event.
“Even though L’Arche has been in the Comox Valley for more than 30 years, there are many people who don’t know about us,” says Hollee Card, Community Leader & Executive Director for L’Arche Comox Valley. “We’re part of a network of communities through the world that welcomes people with and without intellectual disabilities to live, work, learn and grow together.”
“We’re grateful to the businesses participating in the festival,” says Hollee. “Their interest in community is what provides the support we need to continue to make a positive difference in the Valley.”
Hot chocolate festivals are an annual winter tradition held in Victoria, Vancouver, Squamish, the Okanagan and across Canada.
