Calling All Cookie and Bar Bakers!

Every December, the doors of St. George’s United Church open to the scent of sugar, spice, and something even sweeter – community. During the church’s Christmas Cookie Walk the tables fill quickly, not just with cookies, but with stories and laughter: recipes passed down, perfected, and shared.

This past Cookie Walk was one to remember. Nearly 200 batches were sold in one hour, raising close to $3,000 for a good cause. Behind every shortbread and sugar cookie was a volunteer, a neighbour, a friend. And through the flurry of cookies and conversations, something meaningful took shape – support for L’Arche Comox Valley and its vision for The Anchorage, a project to construct a mini-village of 16 homes for adults with developmental disabilities here in the Comox Valley.

One of the organizers, Nancy Milliken reflects on the event, “What makes the Cookie Walk so special isn’t just the baking; it’s the way people come together. Every person who walks through the door becomes part of something bigger.”

Your Treasured Recipes

And now, those well-loved recipes are finding a new home in the Cookie Walk Recipe Book; one that captures not just ingredients and instructions, but the spirit of generosity and togetherness. And that’s where you come in.

Somewhere in your kitchen, there may be a cookie that disappears faster than you can plate it. A square that always gets requested. A recipe that tells a story. And we’d love you to share it with us.

“Our recipe book won’t just be about baking, it’ll be about belonging,” says Nancy. It’ll be about gathering the flavours of a community that shows up for one another, again and again.

Submit your favourite cookie or square to us and we’ll weave all selected recipes into a collection that gives back, celebrates generosity, and helps build homes filled with connection.

After all, the best recipes are the ones worth sharing.
