A Man of Many Talents

If you’re low on energy or feeling a little down, come to the I Belong Centre and talk to Ed.
“What? You want to interview me? But I’m busy right now,” Ed says with a big smile. “I’m just kidding.”

In fact, it’s hard to find time to talk to Ed about Ed because his schedule is so full. The 38-year old who hails from Edmonton moved to the Comox Valley with his parents years ago. “I like the Valley because it’s fun here and there’s so much to do,” says Eddy, as his friends call him.

Always On the Go

Ed works one day a week at Tim Horton’s and volunteers another day a week at ReStore. “I also have a cleaning business and I’m learning about pest control.” he says. Ed loves to learn and takes classes at North Island College. “I’m taking a stress management course and I’ve taken other courses like First Aid and WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Management Information System).”

Ed also loves music, so you’ll find him “spinning tunes” at the I Belong Centre and other places like the City of Courtenay’s Operation High Jump, weekly at Triple Heat Dance Studio during the All Abilities dance classes. He’s also learning to play the piano.

Despite all the things that Ed does, he still finds time to visit the I Belong Centre each day, taking part in activities, having lunch and being supportive to others. And what’s Ed’s favourite thing to do out of all of this? “I like joking around and being a friend,” he says.

The world could use more people like Ed, wouldn’t you agree?
